2018 John Mackey Award
COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S TOP TIGHT END
The John Mackey Award is given to the collegiate Tight End who best exemplifies the play, sportsmanship, academics, and community values of NFL Hall of Fame Tight End John Mackey.
The 2018 John Mackey recipient was determined by confidential balloting of the John Mackey Selection Committee.
THIS YEARS WINNER…
T.J. HOCKENSON, TE, IOWA HAWKEYES
Hockenson, a Chariton native, had a break-out year in 2018. He lead the Hawkeyes with 49 catches for 760 yards. in thirteen games. He had six receiving touchdowns, and added one touchdown on the ground that came from a fake field goal.
Hockenson was a key third-down target for junior quarterback Nate Stanley and averaged 15.5 yards per reception this season.
The redshirt sophomore is considering entering the NFL Draft and has until Jan 14th to decide.
